Well, its been a great 3 years but I sold my Savage
yesterday to a a 72 year old Texas oilman who wanted
a toy so that he could play with his son who recently
got a bike. Did not plan on it, it just happened
while I was at my Suzuki dealer looking at the Intruder
1500. He got a deal (better than new bike) and my
baby got a good home.
Now for my new bike. I want something that I can ride
3 hours up to Austin to visit my daughter who is at
college. Big V-twin or (shutter) a used Gold Wing.
I really am leaning toward the Suzuki 1500. I am
biased to the brand. After hearing horror stories
about the Yamaha Road King (1600), I am tempted to
dismiss anything I read in magazines. It was a bike
of the year a couple of years ago and now I'm hearing
that it suffers from all sorts of mechanical noises and
defects. So you just can't tell over the long term.
So for 8 to 10k, what would you get.
I always respected the opinions on the forum, thanks
for all the info over the years.
